Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend
The countdown is on until we get to celebrate her majesties platinum jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. It’ll be an amazing opportunity for all communities to come together and celebrate this historic milestone, as well as have an extra-long weekend! Hooray! We’ve put together some tips to help you get into the spirit of celebrations, as well as some local events that are commemorating the Queen’s special weekend.
Enjoy a glass of Pimm’s or two A classic, British favourite! Soak up the sun and make that perfect glass of refreshing, ice- cold Pimm’s whilst enjoying the four-day bank holiday weekend.
Attend a local street party All over the UK, we can guarantee there will be a street party being held in most communities. As a country, we have a huge history of organised street parties, with the Sunday being the big day. Invite some friends and family to indulge and celebrate friendship, food and fun. Don’t forget the Victoria sponge!
Hang that flag out!Embrace the party vibes and hang bunting between houses to unite the street together. Flags can also be hung from inside your windows or from your porch. Try to shop local and support small businesses, or simply make your own at home and get the kids involved!
Play some British anthems Whether it’s on the radio, Spotify or YouTube, play some of those British chart-toppers to get you in the dancing mood. Classics from ABBA and Oasis I bet even the Queen would approve of.
Watch the big screen Grab a glass of fizz and put your feet up, head over to the BBC and watch all the celebrations straight from the comfort of your own home. There will be plenty of action from parties, parades and pageants to pay tribute to the Queen.
